LA Times“Gingrich’s ‘outsider’ gambit.”
Suuuure Republican Newt fans, he’s totally an outsider. Except that:
— Newt Gingrich spent twenty years (January 3, 1979 to January 3, 1999) in the U.S. House of Representatives representing Georgia’s 6th district, with the last four of those years spent as Speaker of the House — the third-highest position in American government.
— He lives a twenty-minute drive away from D.C. in a multimillion-dollar Virginia home.
— He has spent the last decade as a D.C. lobbyist and is now worth $20 million. Not bad for someone who started out as a teacher.
